Full Hookup Camping Near Fairhope Texas
If you are looking for camping next to a beautiful lake and a world away from the big city, but just minutes from a strong cup of joe and a stack of fluffy pancakes, then Frisco is your spot. There are 3 National Forest campgrounds just minutes from Frisco’s charming Main Street and on the shores of Dillon Reservoir. Most of these areas open mid May and close end of September.
- Peak One Campground, located on Frisco Peninsula just minutes from the Frisco Adventure Park, has 80 sites able to accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. The campground is equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings, flush toilets and drinking water. Electrical hook-ups are not available, but the views, miles of trails and access to the lake will make you forget that electricity even exists!
- Pine Cove Campground, located on the Frisco Peninsula just minutes from the Frisco Adventure Park , has 56 single sites able to accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. The campground is equipped with vault toilets, drinking water and great access to miles of single trails and Dillon Reservoir. Reservations may not be made for these sites; first come, first camping.
- Heaton Bay Campground has 81 sites, able to accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs. Tent-only sites are also available. The campground is equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings, vault toilets and drinking water. Guests can also fill their RV tanks. Electrical hook-ups are available for a fee at several of the sites.
Here are some other camping options 15+ minutes from Frisco in the Summit County area. We’ll break these down by 3 different camping options: dispersed camping, full service RV camping and designated area camping.
Dispersed Camping
Dispersed camping requires a commitment to outdoor wilderness adventure. The advantages are that you are truly in the heart of the forest, it is quieter and your chances of seeing wildlife are greatly increased. However, you must be truly prepared for an outdoor adventure including fire restrictions, proper waste management with an understanding of Leave No Trace principles, and campsite location restrictions.
The only dispersed camping area near Frisco is Miner’s Creek Road. Campsites are very limited, offering only 6-8 options that are frequently occupied. Access to these sites requires a hefty vehicle with high clearance 4 wheel drive, bring the Jeep not the Subaru or Chevy Impala.
For more information on dispersed camping, reach to the Dillon Ranger District – phone # 970-468-5400, located 10 minutes from Frisco in Silverthorne at 680 Blue River Parkway.
For additional dispersed camping options within Summit County including Silverthorne, Dillon and Breckenridge check out the Dispersed Camping Information from the Frisco Visitor Information Center.
Full Service RV Camping
Beyond the Heaton Bay Campground near Frisco, here are some full service RV camping options.
Tiger Run RV Resort – Is located between Frisco and Breckenridge and is open year round (be sure to book early as this fills up)
Any other options for full service RV camping are outside of Summit County:
Sugar Loafin’ Camp Ground – Leadville (35 minutes from Frisco)
Red Mountain RV park – Kremmling (50 minutes from Frisco)
Developed/Designated Camping
If you are car camping with a 10 person tent or have a small 1 person tent, there are numerous areas that still offer some nice creature comforts. The White River National Forest offers many camping areas that have flush toilets, vaulted toilets, water and/or garbage services. Most of these areas open mid May and close in October.
